Frequently Asked Questions

What is River Caddy?

River Caddy is an iOS app that generates AI-powered fly fishing reports for rivers across the American West. Tap any spot on the map and get a full three-day report — water conditions, hatches, recommended flies, pro tactics, and local regulations.

Which rivers are covered?

We currently cover California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho — with hundreds of mapped spots on major rivers, creeks, and tailwaters. We're adding more states based on angler demand. If your river is missing, email us and it goes on the list.

How often are reports updated?

Reports are generated on demand and cached for the same day. Live flow data from USGS and weather conditions refresh every hour behind the scenes, so the condition scores you see on the map reflect today's water.

What do the condition scores mean?

How do I subscribe to premium?

Tap the upgrade prompt inside the app to see monthly and annual options. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID — we never see your payment information.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, not through River Caddy:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top → Subscriptions
  3. Tap River CaddyCancel Subscription

You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.

How do I request a refund?

All subscription refunds are handled by Apple, not by River Caddy. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID used to make the purchase.

Why is a river or spot missing?

We're expanding the spot database every week. If you know a river or access point that should be included, email us the river name, state, and rough coordinates and we'll add it in the next data update.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Email support@rivercaddy.com with what you were doing when it happened, what you expected, and what actually happened. Screenshots help. If it's a device-specific issue, tell us your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About).

Where does the fishing data come from?

Flow data is sourced from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Weather forecasts come from public meteorological services. Fly recommendations, hatch charts, and pro tactics are generated by AI and reviewed against seasonal patterns. Regulations reflect published state agency rules — always verify with the state wildlife agency before fishing.

Is my data safe?

River Caddy's iOS app doesn't require an account. Your favorites stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
